We began our Red Rock K9 experience a year ago and it had been amazing. Sam was very particular to make sure he matched us to the right puppy. He hit it out of the park. My background with German Shepherds is breeding and showing them in the AKC conformation ring. I love my show dogs and have to add that not all dogs shown in conformation are over angulated or spooky. Several of mine were sold for SAR work and several made good watch dogs. However, now that I am retired, I want to camp, hike and explore. I wanted not only a companion, but a serious personal protection dog. Enter Red Rock K-9! Sam sells puppies already trained in basic obedience which come from proven working lines or you can purchase adult trained protection dogs. The bonus for me is that Sam is a very skilled dog trainer and offers lessons on obedience and protection. Dargo, my puppy, is not only amazingly intelligent, he is showing me daily how bold he is in temperament accompanying me on my farm chores. After the loss of our last loyal and true German Shepherd companion of 14 years on 3 July this year (2017), I slowly began to research available German Shepherd puppies for adoption. Sam worked with us to pair us with a perfect fit of a 6 month old German Shepherd puppy named Sasha. We’ve always had Labrador Retrievers but our 6 year old son had been begging for a German Shepherd for a year. Honestly, I was quite skeptical about the breed until we met a Red Rock puppy named Ranger on the ski slopes in Angel Fire, NM. The boys on the ski team were all petting him and playing with him in the snow. The owner told me I should contact Sam at Red Rock K9. I called Sam the next day and said “I don’t want a dog for sport or shows, I just want a pet that’s good with kids, breeding and titles don’t matter to me”. I was completely wrong. After some discussions with Sam we decided to put our name on the list for a puppy.
A couple months later, we decided to get a dark sable male import puppy that Sam was offering from his partners in the Czech Republic. We named him Rocky. He has been a fabulous addition to our family. His vet said that Rocky has the best temperament she’s ever seen for a young German Shepherd puppy. He goes everywhere with the neighborhood kids and they pretend he is a trained military dog or police K9. He is already very protective of our son but in a confident, stable way….not in a crazy aggressive way. He has nerves of steel and is really excelling at training. We need a well trained pet because we take our dogs everywhere with us and Sam worked with his contacts in the Czech Republic to find just what we wanted. Aside from being a magnificent looking dog, he has excellent breeding and the best temperament we could ever hope for.
If you are on the fence at all about getting a German Shepherd, I urge you to contact Sam. He is extremely knowledgeable about the breed and can really educate you about the importance of a good breeding program. Let him help match you up with dog that fits your lifestyle!

I had lost my K9 partner after 11 amazing years together. It was obvious that I needed another German Shepherd in my life. I contacted the owner of Red Rock K9, Sam, and explained my situation to him. I was still dealing with my loss and Sam was very understanding. Within a few days, Sam sent me pictures and videos of an adult male that he had available for import from the Czech Republic. He felt that “Buddy” was everything I was looking for. I trusted Sam’s instincts and moved forward with the purchase. “Buddy” arrived in Oklahoma and I made the 21 hour drive to pick him up. When I arrived, Sam took all the time that was needed to meet and get comfortable with my new GSD. The long ride home gave us plenty of time to bond and spend quality time together. “Buddy ” has been with us for a week now and we couldn’t be happier.
