We need help assigning a βkennel nameβ for this girl! πΎ
It may just be temporary until her forever family comes along, but she deserves a fun name to get started.
This litter has been incredibly special already β and with several families deciding to move to a future litter due to timing, this little girl unexpectedly became available again. Someone is going to get a very nice puppy.
Soβ¦ what should we call her for now? πβ¬οΈ

We had a full, productive day getting the outdoor puppy area set up while transitioning the litter into the final stage of using the puppy door.
The pups stepped outside with immediate confidence and settled right in. They enjoyed their first outdoor meal and feeding time under the shaded canopyβcalm, natural, and exactly what we want to see at this stage.
This is where early development really starts to show.

Tuesday night, March 24th, started like any otherβ¦ until it didnβt.
I was getting home later that evening when Linsey went out to check on Viki β and just like that, she had already delivered the first puppy. Linsey jumped right in, got the puppy moving, and the night officially began.
From there, Viki labored steadily through the night and into the morning, handling everything like a pro. There was even a long stretch where she rested and wasnβt in active labor, but when things picked back up, she found her rhythm again.
As we got toward the end, though, things changed.
She began struggling with what we thought was the last puppy. After about two hours of trying to assist β and me usually having good success helping pups through β we made the call to reach out to our friends at Great Plains Veterinary Services. They were incredible and got us worked in and their team went to work.
They were able to get the puppy out, but unfortunately, it didnβt make it.
At that point, we believed we were doneβ¦ but decided to take an X-ray just to be sure β and thatβs when we found out there were still three more puppies.
Viki was exhausted.
While she wasnβt in immediate danger, we knew pushing through naturally wasnβt the right call β not for her, and not for the remaining pups. To give them the best possible chance, we made the decision to move forward with a C-section.
Unfortunately, two of those three didnβt make it.
But we truly believe that decision is what saved the final puppy.
In the end, we are incredibly grateful.
Seven healthy puppies are here β five males and two females β and Viki is doing great.
From the first puppy at 8 PM to finally being settled back home with all the pups, it was a 17-hour stretch for Viki β and about 32 hours straight awake for me.
Proud of this girl and excited for their journey at Red Rock K9.
