One-on-One Expert Training
We offer a variety of private training courses that will cater to your dog’s energy level, drive and aptitude for training. You will learn step-by-step ways to achieve a well mannered pet. We will also be able to evaluate the dog in its everyday environment where we can address unwanted behaviors in your home.
We teach owners how to become better leaders and trainers. A good trainer can capitalize on the individual needs of each dog. Not all dogs have the same drive, energy, or motivational drives. A dog’s most opportune time to learn is with little to no distractions in conjunction with a positive atmosphere. Training should be fun for the dog.
Wanted behavior should equal rewards while unwanted behaviors should bring no reward. Corrections should never happen during the learning process. Imagine sitting down to learn to play the piano and every time you hit the wrong you were sharply corrected by your instructor. Pretty soon sitting down to play the piano (training) or simply interacting with the instructor (trainer) would become more of a stress and you would surely look to a way to avoid the situation all together. This is the same scenario that happens when owners or trainers try to bring corrections into the learning process.
The amount of pressure or corrections put on the dog should be dependent on the dog’s confidence and proficiency in each individual training exercise. Not the trainer’s favorite method of training.
Owners should be prepared to spend the appropriate amount of time training each day though the course of the At Home Training Program. Learning the right ay to train your dog will be fun and rewarding to both you and your dog.
Board & Train
This course is a great choice for owners that want the dog to learn the commands with a firm foundation of the basics. Owners will be brought up to speed on what the dog has learned while in training. The benefit to this is that the dog quickly learns his commands with no confusion or ambiguity in meaning while training with a professional dog trainer. This means the dog and the owner do not have to learn something new at the same time. This can be very beneficial and less confusing for the dog. Maintenance training with the owner is crucial in the dog’s success. The bond between owner and dog is irreplaceable and is necessary to establish this same bond during the training process as well. All board and train classes will include a follow up lesson to review what the dog has learned and how to continue in their success. The basic commands typically learned are: sit, down, stay, come, leave-it, wait, and more.
